Abstract

Objective: In determining the correlation between the PFRI, which were invented by Axelsson, and dental caries.

Materials and Method : This study herewith conducted oral examinations on a total of 62 participants, adult female and males 20 years of age. After subsequent dental plaque and plaque formation rate examinations.

Results: Correlation coefficient between PFRI and DMFS is r=0.278 (p=0.028). Correlation coefficient between PFRI and DS is r=0.270(p=0.034). Correlation coefficient between SM test and DS is r=0.283(p=0.026). Correlation coefficient between DMFS and (SM test ¡¿ PFRI) is r=0.303(p=0.017), and correlation coefficient between DS and (SM test ¡¿ PFRI) is r=0.383(p=0.002).

Conclusion: Clinically, it is preferable to consider the dental plaque formation rate examination and SM test, simultaneously executing dental caries activity test exam.
